FINRA Suspends Michael Anton Crowe of Mesa, Arizona
FINRA suspended Michael Anton Crowe for failing to disclose his participation in a private securities transaction for compensation involving a real estate investment company to his member firm. Crowe solicited two customers and accepted a $50,000 check for investment to a real estate investment company, receiving a $2,500 referral fee. The real estate investment company promised an annual return on investment of upwards of 8%, however, just days after the investment Crowe learned that the company owner was being sued for improper use of investor funds. The client only received a $1,250 return on their investment.
Without admitting or denying the findings, Crowe consented to the FINRA sanctions and their entry of findings. In late 2017, FINRA issued an Acceptance, Waiver & Consent (AWC) and assessed Crowe a deferred fine of $5,000, suspended him from association with any FINRA member in all compacities for one month, and ordered him to pay $2,500 plus interest in deferred disgorgement of financial benefits received.
